#266: Goodbye, Dolly
August 28, 2026
Dolly Parton, who died at 78 from cancer, is remembered by the hosts through her film career (particularly "9 to 5") and music, with discussion of her partnerships with performers like Kenny Rogers, Burt Reynolds, and Sylvester Stallone. The episode celebrates her legacy as a universally beloved entertainer who transcended political and cultural divides, maintained artistic control over her work (famously turning down Elvis Presley when he demanded half the publishing rights to "I Will Always Love You"), and used her success to invest in literacy programs and underserved communities.
